The West Essex Middle School girls’ soccer team clinched the Greater Morris County Title in thrilling fashion, defeating Roxbury 4-2 in a penalty shootout. Roxbury came out strong, gaining a quick 3-0 lead within the first 10 minutes. However, West Essex fought back, narrowing the gap to 3-2 by halftime with two goals from Izzy Sia. Late in the game, Taylor DelRusso scored the equalizer, tying the match 3-3 and sending it into overtime. After a scoreless extra period, West Essex triumphed in the penalty shootout. This championship run included three hard-fought road playoff victories, as they overcame Dover, Mt. Olive, and Roxbury. Congratulations!
