As the 2024-2025 school year reaches its halfway mark, our dedicated administration and faculty have already begun planning for the 2025-2026 academic year.

On January 9th, West Essex High School welcomed students and parents from the Class of 2029. HS Principal Dr. Kimberly Westervelt unveiled a new format for this year's event. “This year, we’re introducing an open house experience for both 8th grade students and their parents. This change replaces our traditional parent-only presentation, offering a more engaging and inclusive opportunity to explore all WE have to offer,” explained Westervelt. “The purpose of the event is to welcome the 8th grade families to the high school and introduce them to the opportunities that await them.”

The night began with a welcome address in the auditorium. Then, students and parents broke out into groups to meet with supervisors, lead teachers, and staff who provided overviews of course offerings and highlighted areas of interest. The evening also featured performances by our High School Band, Choir, and Orchestra ensembles, as well as tables with exciting activities.

Preparations are also underway at West Essex Middle School, as MS Principal Dr. Gina Donlevie and her team prepare to welcome approximately 300 students from the 4 sending districts into the West Essex family. On Thursday, January 16th, WEMS hosted its annual Parent Orientation for parents of current 6th graders. The night began with tours of the building before an extensive presentation outlining WEMS’ philosophy, academic framework, guidance services, and registration process.
