National Day of Service
Posted on 01/29/2019
Day of Service for Middle School students On Tuesday, January 29th, middle school students held a National Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 21st).

7th grade students filled 74 backpacks with healthy non-perishable items for Toni's Kitchen in Montclair.  The backpacks will be distributed to children in need so that they can have healthy meals over the weekend.

Students also had the opportunity to create Patrol Care Kits to be used by our troops when they are away from base for two days.  The kits will be sent to local military connections and to "Operation Gratitude" - a non-profit that "seeks to lift spirits and meet the evolving needs of the U.S. Military and First Responder communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation."

Students brought in donations over the past several weeks to contribute to these projects.

8th Grade students spent their time in their Advisory groups, working on action plans for their community service projects.  These projects will be implemented in the spring.
