Special Services
With the right tools, you too can do amazing things.
The mission of the West Essex Regional School District is to instruct all students in the same curriculum, with modifications and strategies available to those students with differing learning abilities. To that end, the Department of Special Services is designed as a network of human services whereby each dimension of the overall system connects and communicates in such a way that all children with special needs are served optimally, and all parents of children with special needs are significantly involved in the delicate delivery system.
The department provides a full range of services designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities in grades 7-12. These programs provide classes and training that use innovative approaches in a structured, positive environment to support each student in meeting his or her Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
The Department of Special Services is comprised of the child study team (learning consultants, psychologists and a social worker), special education teachers, school counselors, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and assistants, aides and behaviorists.
SEPAG: Special Education Parent Advisory Group

The mission of the West Essex Regional School District’s Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) is to encourage honest and effective communication, understanding, and mutual respect in a supportive partnership inclusive of all students, parents, educators and the community. SEPAG’s goal is to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to students who receive special services, and to identify and provide the information parents need to be effective partners in the special education process.
